Harrisburg Comic-Con '06
Well that was...interesting. I mean, don't get me wrong, it was certainly worth going and all. It's just that the concept of one small press table (that's us indie publisher type folks) amidst a room full of dealers was not what I was expecting going into this. But, hey, it worked out fairly well. There's not much of an epic tale to this one, since it was only one fairly short day.
What it boils down to is that we've made our usual extra connections, and sold more than we were expecting to. Not nearly enough to cover the cost of the show, but we're still pretty new. On the other hand, we sold a couple of prints. These being new to our table layout, it was fun to sell them on their first trial. Our promo DVD was picked up by the owner of one of the shops we have our book in, which is cool since he seemed rather impressed by it.
The biggest news, however, is another one of those chance happenings. Someone (who's name I never got...sorry, man! We're still new to this.) talked with us for a bit and then bought one of the books. An hour or so later, he returned and handed us "some quick fan art" of Sirus. Which, really, just makes me feel like we've hit the big time. Or, at least, are on our way to the big time, since the issues aren't flying off the shelves yet. But, hey...baby steps.
All in all, though, we're happy with how it turned out. Posted below are some pics. I would've taken more, but I forgot to charge the camera batteries the night before. D'oh! Also, I've posted the aforementioned fan art. Figured this was a good spot to put it, since one piece does not a section make.
Here's our table:
