This is a city of corruption and despair. There is but one ray of hope left for its denizens, and he calls himself Sirus. Unfortunately, that ray is slowly losing its light. Sirus knows nothing of his destiny, just as he knows nothing of his past. All he knows is that he has woken up in an asylum and he must escape.

The fallen hero's scattered memory and hostile surroundings leave him feeling confused and dejected. His former life has bred fighter's instincts within him, and he uses those to plough through his captors. He feels no remorse for those who try to stand in his way, or for those who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. What he feels is base, animalistic. He is caged, and does not wish to be. Once Sirus is finally free he leaves behind him a body count in the double digits.

Even though he has escaped from the asylum, and the drugs which have for so long kept him in check have worn off, Sirus' problems are only just beginning. As he walks through the streets of a city he can not remember, he struggles to recall his forgotten life. Instinct tells him how to survive, but his mind tells him things far less usefull. It will not simply tell him what he wants to know. Instead it riddles him with small snippits of his former life.

But that inspiration comes at a cost, and Sirus's body is racked with pain at each flashback. Which of these flashes are real and which are hallucinations? He has no way to be sure. What he can be sure of is that the brunt, and most vivid, of the flashbacks set upon him as he passed a certain building. One that tugs at his instincts. He knows this place.

Even if entering this building gives him the answers he desires, it will solve only the least of his problems. The time spent drugged and the strain for memory have left his mind in a fragile state. What sanity he has is held in a most tremulous grasp. Despite that, the city still needs him to be its hero. For there are far worse things on the horizon. Things that could destory the city. Things no one, save this man on the brink of insanity, can stop.

City of Daemons follows Sirus' steadily degrading mental state as events push him toward a glory he does not desire. Will this unlikely champion be able to pull himself back from the brink of madness in time to save the city that has cast him aside?
